We’re Growing our Dell Partnership. Here’s How.

As the Dell Strategic Alliance Manager at ASG, I had the opportunity to attend Dell World ’15 in Austin a couple of weeks ago. According to the regional sales managers I met there, ASG specifically represents a rare pedigree of partner for Dell, with our ability to sell at an enterprise level and our decades of experience selling in the data center.

You probably didn’t know, but ASG first signed up as a Dell Registered Partner—the lowest partner level—last November. Within nine short months, we achieved Premier Partner status with Dell, the highest level of partnership that the company offers. This meteoric rise was due, in no small part, to the fact that we had over 75% of our account executives complete Dell sales training, and over 60% of our consulting engineers complete Dell technical training.

The decision to partner with Dell was strategic, but it was also just sensible; Dell is the largest enterprise systems company in the world and the only manufacturer in the industry that can offer full end-to-end IT solutions. That means we can bundle a fully integrated solution of Dell servers, storage, networking, and security to bring holistic data center solutions to reality, which is a huge value for us and our customers.

In fact, we’re especially impressed with a free agentless tool from Dell called DPACK that analyzes customers’ environments to produce a clean report of efficiencies and bottlenecks. It offers our customers an abundance of information in an easy-to-understand format, and it helps us to provide our customers with more valuable and informed recommendations.

As further proof of our commitment to Dell, we’re working to install some Dell servers and storage in our iLab, which we’ll make available to customers for proofs-of-concepts and demonstrations. We’re also working to present our Technology Workshops and AppMap capabilities to our local Dell teams, so they have a better idea of our abilities and value as a partner.
