Contributing Cheer to the Holiday Season

As the holidays approach, we’re reminded of all we have to be thankful for—and there’s no better way to express our gratitude than by giving back to the community. This year, we focused our contributions on two of our favorite charities: the Family Tree and the Food Bank of the Rockies.

The Family Tree is a local organization that offers a wide variety of services designed to help people in our community overcome child abuse, domestic violence, and homelessness.

A relative of an ASG employee introduced us to the Family Tree four years ago, and we’ve sponsored a ‘Giving Tree’ ever since. Each year, the Family Tree provides us with gift tags that list the recipients’ genders, ages, and desired gifts. Then, we go out and fulfill those wishes! This year, we collected 75 gifts for individuals ranging from three months to 65 years old.

That’s one of the things I love about this charity—the ‘wish list’ we helped provide was thoughtfully curated by the case workers who know the individuals and their unique circumstances. Plus, it gives us an opportunity to buy a gift for a specific (though entirely anonymous) person.

We’re also collecting donations for the Food Bank of the Rockies (FBR).  We hit our monetary goal in the first few days of the program for this holiday season, so we increased our target to $1,200!

We’ve been holding food drives for many years now, but this is the first time we sponsored an entirely online version. We made that decision after learning how far FBR can stretch direct monetary donations with its purchasing power and network of wholesale, retail, farm, and ranch donors. In fact, FBR is so efficient that 96 cents of each dollar they receive goes towards food distribution, and every dollar used for distribution equals four meals or five pounds of food.

Thank you to our tremendous employees who provided these gifts and joy during this holiday season!

And on behalf of everyone at ASG, I’d like to extend our thanks and gratitude to our customers, partners, and friends during this holiday season. We hope you have a safe and happy holiday and a fantastic New Year!
