During a one week consultation, ASG will perform the following services (as time allows):

Identify upgrade path:

If upgrading from 5.x > first upgrade the environment to 6.5.x and then to 7

If upgrading from 6.0 MP2 or higher > upgrade directly to 7

Determine upgrade order:
-
EMM Server (if separate from Master server)

Master Server
-
any Media Servers
-
Clients, as customer schedule allows
-
Complete a successful Catalog backup of the existing NetBackup environment

Deactivate NetBackup Policies
-
Deactivate any Media Servers
-
Complete any other required steps with existing environment. Examples:

Freeze NetBackup group (for clusters)
-
Remove all NetBackup 6.x add-ons and database Agents
-
Install NetBackup 7 software to Master Server

Validate NetBackup databases after upgrade

Complete install of NetBackup 7 for any Media servers and Clients

Activate Media servers & Policies
-
Test backup & restore
-
Transfer knowledge
-
Compile and deliver documentation
