Hitachi ShadowImage® In-System Replication

Hitachi ShadowImage® In-System Replication software bundle is a nondisruptive, host-independent data replication solution for creating copies of any customer-accessible data within a single Hitachi storage system. ShadowImage also increases the availability of revenue-producing applications by enabling backups to run concurrently with production. ShadowImage copies:

  • Are RAID protected to ensure the highest data availability.
  • Can provide immediate access and sharing of information for decision support, testing and development.
  • Offer nearly instant recovery from data corruption (disk-based copies).

ShadowImage In-System Replication is enhanced by Hitachi Replication Manager, a new software tool that configures, monitors and manages Hitachi storage system-based replication products for both open systems and mainframe environments. The result is simplified and optimized configuration, operations, task management, and automation and monitoring of critical storage components in the replication infrastructure.

Features

  • Hitachi ShadowImage In-System Replication offers high-speed, nondisruptive, full volume local mirroring technology. This software bundle rapidly creates multiple copies of mission-critical information within all Hitachi storage systems in mainframe and open systems environments.
  • ShadowImage In-System Replication keeps data RAID protected and fully recoverable without affecting service or performance levels.
  • Replicated data volumes in ShadowImage can easily be split from the host applications.
  • The consistency group function allows a user-defined group of ShadowImage volume pairs to be split simultaneously in Hitachi Universal Storage Platform enterprise storage systems. This capability takes place at a precise moment in time with a single command.
  • Optional Hitachi ShadowImage Compatible Mirroring for IBM®FlashCopy® is functionally compatible with the IBM FlashCopy feature and supports dataset level copy. ShadowImage Compatible Mirroring for FlashCopy supports both IBM DFSMSdss commands and TSO peer-to-peer remote copy (PPRC) commands. Its operations, including making additional copies, can be performed for the IBM® z/OS® host system.
