Hitachi Content Platform

Hitachi Content Platform is a virtualized distributed object store with advanced storage and data management capabilities that help IT organizations address a number of challenges posed by the ever-growing volume of unstructured data. The Content Platform can be divided into a number of virtual content platforms, each of which can be uniquely configured for a particular workload. This allows IT to manage a single infrastructure that supports a wide range of data types, applications and users with the specific level of service each needs and no more storage silos.

HCP excels at preserving data for long periods of time. Whether for legal, compliance, business or IT practices, HCP employs key technologies, such as data integrity checking, RAID-6, replication, encryption, WORM, audit logging and more, to ensure that data remains accessible and in its original form for years. Because data in the HCP is exceptionally well protected and always available, the traditional process of backing up data to tape is no longer necessary. This allows IT teams to dramatically reduce or even eliminate traditional tape-based backups of unstructured data.

Features

  • Scales up to 40PB of storage in a single cluster
  • Divides a single cluster into multiple virtual content platforms, each with its own unique configuration and access control
  • Connects to a wide range of applications and protocols via http, REST, NFS, CIFS and more
  • Provides data integrity checking, RAID-6, replication, encryption, WORM, multiple versions of objects, audit logging
  • Automates the movement of data from old storage to new storage
  • Manages and enforces policies for retention, disposal, shredding and other compliance and lifecycle management operations

Benefits

  • Reduce or eliminate the cost, complexity and risk of tape-based backups
  • Adapt easily to both immediate and long-term changes in storage needs and technology
  • Scale smoothly, adding storage as needed without interruption of service
  • Spread the cost of storage across multiple use cases or business groups
  • Leverage cloud as needed
